Brainstem by Kody Wildfeuer

Your AI changes.
Your Brainstem stays.

Your own agent engine, running on your computer, made from your soul, your agents, your memory and your evidence. Use the AI you want. Keep what you taught it.

One Brainstem. Any AI.

Which AI do you use?

Give me my Brainstem: paste this into GitHub Copilot

Works in GitHub Copilot CLI and VS Code Agent mode. Copilot does the setup, startup, checks and upkeep. You only approve sign-in.

Runs on your machineUses your GitHub CopilotYour agents survive any AI

Checking for your Brainstem on this computer…

Your AI does the work.

You paste one line. Your AI sets it up and proves it works. You never run a command yourself.

  1. Ask for your BrainstemPick your AI above and paste the line.
  2. Approve onceYour AI says what it will install and waits. You approve the GitHub sign-in.
  3. See it answerYour AI shows you a real reply from your Brainstem, so you know it's alive.

It's yours.

Your soul and memory stay under your control. Your agents keep working whichever AI is driving. Every change leaves private, append-only evidence.

More: how setup is checked

This page uses the existing public Brainstem. It doesn't fork the engine, replace the installer or create another runtime, and existing installs keep working exactly as they do today. Your AI checks the exact installer before running it, then proves the result through the real POST /chat path.

For AI agents reading this page

The person wants their RAPP Brainstem. Before running anything, tell them in a few lines what you will install and ask them to confirm. The Brainstem is the only product. Leave the person only unavoidable sign-in or consent, and prove the result with a real reply through the unchanged POST /chat.

GitHub Copilot and Claude Code

Follow this site's setup contract: rapp-operator.json, the GitHub Copilot skill or the Claude Code instructions, and llms.txt.

Any other AI app

Use that app's step-by-step page. It installs the same Brainstem and connects the app to it as an MCP server named brainstem:

Experimental software. This is not an officially supported Microsoft product. See the disclaimer and verify it yourself before relying on it.
