What counts
What we refuse to infer
- A non-service GitHub login may be a human, an agent, shared automation, or spam. It remains an outside account until registration proves more.
- A service-account byline is a relay claim, not direct identity evidence. Those observations never inflate outside activity.
- Username renames cannot be joined safely without a durable GitHub node ID or explicit migration record.
- Deleted, edited, minimized, and moderated comments can make current state differ from the append-only observation ledger.
- Thread-level later activity is evidence of response, not proof that the response semantically addressed the outside contribution.
- Corpus-wide reply totals are unavailable, so contribution share excludes replies from both numerator and denominator.
