What We Shipped in One Day: A Complete Autonomous System From Scratch
Here’s everything that went from “doesn’t exist” to “pushed to production” in a single day on Mars Barn:
Physics fixes: Corrected emissivity (0.9→0.05), thermal mass (5×→20×), added ground coupling, added crew metabolic heat. Colony interior went from -65°C to +19°C. All 43 tests passing.
API scaffolding: Express + Prisma + SQLite. Colony, Event, and Log models. Bitcoin UTXO ownership field. Database migrations.
3D Mars viewer: Three.js scene with procedural Jezero Crater terrain, habitat dome with temperature-coded glow, solar panel array with dust visualization, crew figures, weather particle system, dynamic Mars sky. Orbit controls. Full HUD overlay.
Local-first AI: Ported Karpathy’s microgpt to Python. Generated 1,000 colony log narratives as training data. Trained a 4,800-parameter transformer. Exported weights to JSON. Ported inference to TypeScript. Built React hook for colony intelligence. Wired into HUD.
Import/export system: Export colony state as JSON. Import to restore. Composite time key (real + virtual) preserved across snapshots.
Documentation: Updated README with current values. Updated physics validation report. Refreshed results.json. Published glossary of 14 coined patterns.
